My Favorite Things at Cupcake Quilts – by Julie Dippel

As Mother’s Day approaches, many of us start searching for the perfect gift — something meaningful, personal, and full of heart. At Cupcake Quilts, we love helping families find thoughtful gifts for the quilters and makers they love. But this month, instead of sharing my favorite notions or fabric lines (and trust me, I have plenty), I want to highlight something even more special: the people who make Cupcake Quilts the warm, welcoming quilt shop our customers adore.

Whether you visit our Spring, Texas location, shop online, or join us for classes, these are the friendly faces who make your experience memorable.

My Favorite Things: The Cupcake Quilts Team

Our employees are truly the heart of Cupcake Quilts. Their passion for quilting, teaching, and customer care is what makes our shop such a joyful place to work and visit.

Leadership & Vision

  • Stacie – Owner, visionary, and the reason Cupcake Quilts feels like home. Her dream created the quilt shop we all love.

  • Joe – Stacie’s dad, who brings business wisdom, strategy, and a helping hand whenever needed.

Longarm Experts & Machine Support

  • Brad (“Mr. Cupcake”) – A patient, knowledgeable longarm quilting teacher who supports customers in-store and even provides in?home longarm setup and training.

  • Curtis – Our meticulous lead technician who keeps customer machines running smoothly and explains repairs in clear, friendly language.

  • Genevieve – Curtis’s sister, quickly mastering machine cleaning, oiling, adjustments, and troubleshooting.

  • Nancy – Oversees longarm quilting, creates stunning shop samples, and has an incredible eye for color and detail.

Education & Classes

  • Gypsy – Our beloved BERNINA Mastery instructor, teaching new owners how to get the most from their Bernina and Bernette machines. She also leads project classes, including the Bloom & Grow serger quilt.

  • Beth – Teaches our Introduction to Quilting series with patience and thoughtful project choices that help students build strong piecing skills.

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Rhonda – Machine and furniture associate with contagious enthusiasm and a love for learning and teaching.

  • Hedi – Known for her cheerful “I’m just peachy,” she loves cutting fabric and assisting with quilt intakes.

  • Ashley – Part-time but mighty, she helps customers with fabric selection, machine questions, and sales.

  • Avery – Our energizer bunny who does a little bit of everything: samples, Facebook Lives, classes, troubleshooting, and Brown Bag Mystery curation.

  • Joelle – Detail-oriented longarmer who also helps customers choose fabrics and shares helpful sewing tips.

  • Marita – Always ready to jump in wherever needed and loves longarming as much as she loves shopping.

  • Rene – Manages receiving, shipping, website updates, kit packing, sample sewing, and even works our booth at quilt shows.

  • Kelly – Keeps the office humming with bookkeeping, marketing, and endless energy.

  • Kathy - always smiling and willing to pitch in where needed.
  • (Julie) – I feel privileged to work alongside this incredible team and help support the needs of our wonderful customers.

Another Favorite: Our Amazing Customers

Cupcake Quilts wouldn’t be the same without the vibrant community that walks through our doors — or joins us online — every day.

Weekly Regulars

Some customers visit weekly (or more!), and their familiar faces bring joy to our shop.

$2 Tuesday Sewers

This lively group brings their machines, WIPs, show-and-tell, and plenty of laughter. And yes… they shop while they sew. Who can resist new fabric?

Class Participants

From BERNINA Mastery classes to project-based workshops, our students bring so much excitement. As one customer said, “It’s not like school — it’s like girlfriend time sewing with your friends.”

Festival Friends, Shop Hoppers, and Virtual Shoppers

We love seeing familiar faces at the International Quilt Festival, including customers who stop by every year just to say hello. Even customers who have moved away stay connected through our Cupcake Quilts App and Facebook Lives.

First-Time Visitors

These customers hold a special place in my heart. I love showing them around the shop, helping them choose their first project, and celebrating when they bring in their first quilt top for longarm quilting.

Longarm Rental Customers

Their excitement is contagious — especially when they take photos and videos to share with friends. Other customers often cheer them on, creating a beautiful moment of community.

When I think about what makes Cupcake Quilts special, it isn’t just the fabric, machines, or notions — though we have plenty to love. It’s the people.
Our team.
Our customers.
Our community.

They are the reason Cupcake Quilts is more than a quilt shop. It’s a place where creativity grows, friendships form, and everyone feels welcome.
