Turning Orphan Blocks and Leftover Fabric into Quilts

When starting a new quilt, many of us make an extra block or two—perhaps to test a pattern, use up leftover fabric, or simply because we lost count. Over time, those “orphan” blocks and fabric scraps begin to add up. You may have added them to a quilt back or tucked them into a label, but what about those leftover binding strips? Those are a treasure just waiting to be opened and liberated! Join Nancy and Julie for a fun and inspiring afternoon workshop focused on creative ways to turn orphan blocks and fabric scraps into beautiful quilts. We’ll share ideas, discuss possibilities, and show sample projects to spark your imagination.
Please bring:
- Your tub of scraps and orphan blocks
- Paper and pen for notes
- Pins
- Phone for taking pictures
This will be a collaborative, idea-filled session where we help one another plan a masterpiece. While you’ll do the actual sewing on your own, we ask that you bring your finished quilt top back to show us—or at the very least, send photos of your completed project.
As a bonus, we’ll have a special bounce-back coupon available if Nancy does the quilting for you.
What may seem like a daunting task becomes much more fun—and inspiring—when shared with fellow quilters. We can’t wait to see what you create.| Skill Level: | Intermediate |
